When you apply for a tax disc on our website or using our telephone service, the vehicle's insurance will be electronically checked with the Motor Insurance Database (MID), run by the Motor Insurers' Information Centre (MIIC).The new style MOT Test Certificates/GVT Test Certificates (if applicable) will also be checked electronically via a link to the computerised MOT Test Certificate Database. Customers with a new style MOT Test Certificate/GVT Test Certificate are only eligible to use this service.
What if I am entitled to disability exemption from Vehicle Excise Duty?
When you apply for a tax disc through 1 Stop MOT.com or using the telephone service the DVLA though their website will be able to verify your entitlement to disability exemption electronically with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) www.direct.gov.uk and the Veterans Agency (VA) www.veteransagency.mod.uk .
What is the Reference Number?
The Reference Number is a unique number printed on the front of the reminder (also known as the Vehicle Licence Application/SORN Declaration) in the yellow box on the right hand side. It is given to the vehicle to enable you to apply for a tax disc or declare SORN on the DVLA website or using their telephone service.What happens if I don't receive an automatic renewal reminder. If you do not have a vehicle tax renewal reminder you should apply on form V10 at a DVLA local office because your vehicle is registered as 'not licensed'. Why is there an additional charge on credit cards?
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is increasing the ways in which customers can pay Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). Anyone relicensing via the Internet or over the telephone can now pay by credit card.The charge levied by credit card companies for this facility will be passed on to the customer. Following a public consultation exercise on a number of different options, a flat rate charge for credit card payments was chosen. The £2.50 charge covers the costs incurred by the Agency for providing this service. Debit card payments will remain free of charge.
Other payment methods including paying by cash, cheque or debit card for counter and postal application methods will still be available and remain free of charge.
